Glamping and B&B near Newtonmore, Cairngorms National Park

WEE WiLDS is a small, family-run property at The Kennels, about 8 minutes by car from Newtonmore village in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. We have two standalone glamping pods — Muckle Meadow Pod and Cosy Coorie Pod — and four B&B rooms in the main house, each with breakfast included.

Whether you're walking the Wildcat Trail in Newtonmore, spending a day at the Highland Folk Museum, or using us as a base camp for Munro bagging in the Cairngorms, the property puts you right at the edge of some of Scotland's finest hill country. The nearest train station is Newtonmore, four miles away — making us one of the few Cairngorms properties genuinely reachable without a car.

Quiet accommodation near Newtonmore — what to expect

This is a working family home, not a hotel. You'll share the property with Maria, Robert, and their family. The bird feeders are at the kitchen window. The dog is a sprocker spaniel. Breakfast is a conversation, not a buffet.

The pods are completely self-contained — you arrive to a made-up king or double bed, an en-suite shower room, and a kitchenette stocked with the basics. The Muckle Meadow Pod sits at an elevated position with views to the hills to the west; the Cosy Coorie Pod is sheltered by mature beech trees and comes with a gas BBQ for summer evenings.

B&B guests have access to the shared guest kitchen (until 9pm) and the sun-room, which looks out over the grounds. Rooms range from the generous Spacious King Room with its own en-suite, to the quieter Forest Double on the ground floor, which faces the woodland.

The best base for Pattack Falls, the Wildcat Trail and the Cairngorms

Glentruim sits on the edge of open hill country. From the door you can walk directly onto the estate and up to the Glentruim Viewpoint — a 45-minute route that ends at a plaque marking the geographical centre of Scotland. The Wildcat Trail, a long-distance walking route through Newtonmore, runs close by. Pattack Falls and the River Spean gorge are a short drive to the south-west.

For Munro baggers, the southern Cairngorms and the Grey Corries are within easy reach. The Monadh Liath range, less visited and often underestimated, starts from the valley floor beneath the property. Red squirrels, red kites, and red deer are all regular visitors — no drive required.
